Taxonomic diversity of sample types in each snail species. Relative abundance of the different phyla in each sample type for A B. alexandrina and B B. glabrata. Composition varies between sample types with Bacteroidetes, Pseudomonadota (Proteobacteria), Tenericutes and unassigned phyla dominating snail sample types, and with Actinomycetota (Actinobacteria) and Pseudomonadota phyla dominating water samples. Composition is more similar between organs sharing functions (stomach and gut) or location (hepatopancreas and ovotestis). Proportion of unassigned phyla is high in snail sample types, particularly in B. alexandrina hepatopancreas and ovotestis.
