Comparison of 16S density between snail organs, whole snail, hemolymph and water. We quantified raw 16S copy number either A per host cell (organs and whole snail) or B per microliter of hemolymph and water using qPCR. Stomach and gut had the highest densities, ovotestis the lowest, with species-specific variations in hepatopancreas densities. Hemolymph densities were consistent with previous studies.
